On August 3rd, 2015 it’s British Columbia Day (BC Day) and since it’s a long weekend, many travellers, tourists, and family will be coming in to the city to spend time with their loved ones, or visit some of the many events going on around the city. If you’d like to take yourself or your family on a sightseeing tour, this weekend is sure to be the best all year. We’ve compiled a list of the best events to go to on the August long weekend on your Vancouver limousine rental:
1) Vancouver Pride Parade – August 2nd, 2015
The 37th annual LGBT–friendly event features floats and local community groups and organizations. This year, the parade’s theme is Gender Super Heroes, showing the need for role models that reflect and inspire. Roan Reimer, Michelle Fortin, and Romi Chandra Herbert will be this year’s grand marshals.
2) Kitsilano Showboat – August 3rd, 2015
Kitsilano Showboat’s 80th season of music and dance begins on June 22nd and continues every Mon/Wed/Fri/Sat until August 15. Join us on our historic stage next to Kits Pool at 7pm. Something different every evening, but always the most beautiful view in the world. Entertaining Vancouver since 1935.
3) Prohibition City – August 1st, 2015
In 1917, Prohibition hit Vancouver harder than a slug of bathtub gin, knocking the city to its knees. Saloon doors swung closed for good, forcing law-abiding citizens into an illicit world of bootlegged spirits and mob-run drinking dens. Prohibition City is a 90 minute walking tour where you discover the secrets of Vancouver’s Prohibition-era past. Hear the true tales of the city’s biggest legends, like corrupt mayor L.D. Taylor, notorious mob boss Joe Celona and glamorous showgirl Yvonne DeCarlo. Walk the cobblestone streets where bootlegging, rum-running and illegal gambling once ran rampant. You’ll visit some of the city’s most impressive heritage buildings, including the infamous Sun Tower and ornate Dominion Building, which once vied for the title of tallest building in the British Empire. But be warned, you’ll need sharp wits – and an even sharper pencil – to survive in Prohibition City.
